We are spotlighting each designer, so read below about CEO Andre Terry of IMT Designs.


Andre Terry has been an integral part of the southern fashion scene for over twenty years, leaving his fashion signature in various genres including television, stage and music production. His show stopping, jaw dropping designs have been known to enhance the true lines and curves of the female physic to perfection, setting him and his designs apart from his peers in the fashion industry.
Accomplishments: Andre started “It’s My Turn” IMT Designs in 1986, after years of working his hobby of designing where his creations were featured in fashion shows, drawing an increased demand of custom work for individual clients. His initial collection included daywear pieces, glamorous one of a kind evening gowns, as well as unique styles just for men. Andre also host his online live stream radio called “ The Fashion Spot” www.xr103.com. Partnering up with Yvonne Alford he has opened up a boutique called “The Identity Point”
His professional background includes touring with Paul Mitchell Hair Care Show throughout the country for TWO YEARS. Andre also has created designs for the cast members of the popular television show “Fame”. Andre noted, “What I thought was a hobby turned into a lucrative career that literally took me by surprise.” Andre has worked with Melinda Ballard, former publicist for designer Oscar de la Renta and Ralph Lauren. He opened a costume boutique in downtown Austin, TX, as sales soared, he was able to increase his staff and moved his operations to Dallas, TX, and he began selling his designs in other boutiques and stores throughout the country.
He launched a division of his business targeted specifically for the church community, to service the growing demand for custom uniforms and robes. He clients, local Dallas area congregations included Hamilton Park First Baptist, St. Luke Community United Methodist Church and St. John First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. Andre has designed for “God’s Property” led by gospel artist Kirk Franklin as well as for Bishop TD Jakes’ wife, Lady Serita Jakes of The Potter’s House Dallas.
IMT Designs by Andre Terry have been worn by entertainers such as Monica Calhoun, Kim Fields, Angie Stone, Dave Hollister, Leon and Vanessa Williams to name a few. Andre worked several years designing costumes for ‘Shucky Ducky’ ringmaster for the UniverSoul Circus. He was the DOTY designer of the year in 2004. His knowledge of fashion style and image development has given him the opportunity to travel the country touring and creating costume designs with National stage and theater productions such as Friends and Lovers and Issues staring some of Hollywood’s most talented artists. Andre’s creations are unique because of their versatility and ability to be worn more than one way, for different occasions.
During his free time, Andre teaches fashion design courses at local high schools and elementary schools, and plans to start his own design school. Although Texas born he is a National artist with a heart of gold. He ultimately plans to open a school for future designers. Creating opportunity for a new generation of up and coming fashion designers to enhance and learn new skills, as well as gain knowledge of the business side of the industry, and the possibilities before them.
