Dr. Amerson has added another title to her name…recording artist! Radio host/song writer/singer Dr. Linda Amerson released the highly anticipated theme song “Cruise With a Purpose” June 5, 2013 on her top rated radio show! Dr. Amerson hosts a weekly radio show, Ask the Hair & Scalp Doctor, every Weds @ 11am cst on www.DfwiRadio.com. Amerson’s guests include local, National and International entrepreneurs. Topics on the show include: a healthy hair care or scalp care tip of the day, alopecia, guests diagnosed with alopecia share their story, author spotlights, scalp disorders, bullying and alopecia, self-esteem, magazine spotlights, image, beauty, community health fairs, health topics, and nutrition just to name a few.
Dr. Amerson wrote the song to assist with alopecia awareness on a global scale. September is National Alopecia Areata Awareness Month. With that in mind, on September 10-15, 2012, Amerson and her group set sail on a 5-dayCruise With a Purpose to Yucatan Progresso &Cozumel, Mexico. It was a tremendous success! In addition, stepping out of the box really paid off when Amerson performed her theme song to attendees. “Everyone loved it!, states Amerson. Amerson elaborates, “I was referred to music producer/composer Victor Clark (aka Phazz) by a friend of mine. Upon calling Victor, I was a little nervous after doing my due diligence and reading his long list of celebrities he had produced his for, and movie inclusions. This was my first song I had written and produced. I put fear aside because I had to share what God had given me in this song. It was not about me! It was about spreading alopecia awareness! So through our collaboration, we created Cruise With a Purpose. I will work on a video, in the future, to give the visual component to consumers for a clear understanding of my alopecia awareness message. We also include an essay contest for children ages 10-18 who are affected. Our topic is, “I Have Alopecia, But It Does Not Define Who I Am”, requiring a minimum of 300 words and a picture of the contestant. Deadline for submissions is December 31, 2013.
