Spotlight on Designer: Deidre Hardin
Deidre Hardin, artist and owner of Copper Signatures, has always been intrigued with the elements of line, form, and color along with the design principle of visual movement in her art. Deidre is continually searching for her visual voice in all forms of mixed media. “I taught myself many direct and misdirected techniques to articulate my vision!” She had always been drawn to jewelry; but until two years ago, never thought of it as a way to make her visual statement. A series of major health issues with Lupus leading to a heart transplant two years ago sparked her “statement” through wearable copper artforms. Learning how copper assists in relieving joint inflammation, which she needed for herself dealing with Lupus, she decided to make jewelry that not only looked good; but is also good for you. There are no heat or chemical adhesives used in her creations. All are hand forged, cold formed, textured and scroll designed by hand. Keeping with her appreciation of artisan quality works, each piece is ecclectically made with clay, found/recycled elements, precious gemstone, seed and other natural elements. Every statement piece is a testiment to her journey, making them exclusively one of a kind. Her work is reflective of her quote “Learn to appreciate and recreate the beauty that is already around you." Deidre’s Copper Signatures line can be worn for all occasions as well as with casual attire on anyone who wants to "Make a statement without saying a word.”
